My name is Lesly Salazar, and I am a video producer. I graduated from The Pennsylvania State University in 2016 where I earned a degree in Broadcast Journalism. For three years, I was a summer/winter reporting intern at WTTG FOX 5 TV in Washington D.C. During my time there, I conducted multiple interviews used on-air, copy edited web producer content and produced a weekly segment that was published online. I spent the summer of 2015 producing for the web where my interest in online content began.

During the summer of 2016, Tegna hired me as a Social Video Producer.  I used social discovery tools to find emotional human stories, as well as trending stories on social media. Many of the videos were from local TV stations that were repackaged for social media platforms such as Facebook.  I produced five a week for eight weeks, and all of them had text on screen.

My passion is visual storytelling through character-driven stories, which is what influenced me to participate in the first annual Short Doc Workshop hosted by Penn State's College of Communications in 2016. I was awarded the Yanoshak scholarship for excellence in multimedia storytelling.

I enjoy the outdoors, reading, and adventuring with my fiancé and our two-year-old daughter. I was asked to write about my motherhood experience after being chosen for the Online News Association student newsroom in 2016.  I most recently worked in Washington D.C. as Daily Blast Live's east coast producer, and am now a freelance videographer.
